Background

The first installation of our innovative building heating and cooling low-carbon solution was completed in December 2020 at the SLB Riboud Product Center in Clamart, Ile de France. SLB, Celsius Energy’s parent company, offers solutions to accelerate the transition to low-carbon energy to fulfill the world’s energy needs. Their product center is a 60-year-old, four-floor high commercial building with a 3,000 square meters surface.

Problem

SLB wanted to switch from gas-fired heating and air-conditioning with chillers to a more sustainable solution using low-carbon energy.

Solution

SLB has chosen the turnkey solution by Celsius Energy which has a much smaller footprint than a conventional installation. It includes a well with 10 probes 150 m deep, a technical room with a geothermal heat pump and a digital energy management solution. The total surface footprint of the solution is approximately 14 square meters, or just a little smaller than two parking spots. The entire construction, from feasibility study to delivery, was completed in six months. Further, the construction did not disrupt regular activity throughout the building, which often sees up to 200 employees per day.

Result

The system implemented has reduced energy consumption by 74% and CO2 emissions by 87.5% compared to the previous solution.
