Background

ORPEA is a chain of retirement homes offering services to the elderly across France. Their new medical institute in Crosne, located in the greater Paris area, covers an area of 4 600 m².

Need

In their new medical institute, ORPEA was looking for a sustainable heating and cooling solution that would contribute to the well-being of its residents. At the same time, given the current energy prices and the energy challenges many countries are facing in their struggle to fulfill their energy needs, ORPEA was also looking for a solution that is also energy-efficient, helping to ensure energy independence and energy security long-term.

Solution

Celsius Energy offered ORPEA a turnkey solution that could be combined with a gas and chiller backup system as needed. This solution entails a field of 7 inclined probes drilling up to 200 meters in depth, coupled with a technical room with a geothermal heat pump and a digital energy management system.

Result

The chosen Celsius Energy solution reduces CO2 emissions by 71% and final energy consumption by 64% compared to the initial system consisting of a traditional gas boiler and cooling units. This solution has a small footprint, making it an ideal sustainable solution with minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, the aesthetically pleasing solution, which helps to minimize noise pollution, is well-suited for meeting the needs of ORPEA residents who are very sensitive to excessive noise and are looking for a quiet, pleasant environment that can contribute to their well-being.
